First Floor Gallery, Christchurch

Located above Odds Coffee, First Floor Gallery is a beautiful new space dedicated to showcasing emerging artists, blending the character of the original building with a fresh, modern feel.

For this project, the goal was to create a light and airy space that would let the artwork shine. The flooring plays a big role in that. A last-minute decision to switch to Blanc oak created a soft, neutral base that reflects light and makes the entire gallery feel calm and welcoming.

By keeping the original stairwell, the space still feels connected to its history, while the new flooring brings a clean, modern finish throughout.

It’s a great example of how the right flooring doesn’t just finish a space, it helps shape the entire experience.
