That's where it all started ...
Nigel & Derek Brown were two young Queenstown racers competing on the World Cup Circuit in Europe. Starting a ski shop was a natural extension of their enthusiasm & knowledge of skiing. Pretty soon Browns Ski Shop was to become a shrine to the big alpine where like-minded people worked & shared vital knowledge. For all of us at Browns Ski Shop it's a spiritual feeling. Everything we do is driven by our love of skiing - to search out the best from around the world so that we can offer you the best to share in our passion.

New from ATOMIC SKI, we’re pretty excited to be stocking the Remedy 130 this season.

Taking design cues from Atomic’s range of race boots, these ‘Butter Boots’ add a bit of freeride flair to the established Redster chassis. With vibration-damping ShockStopper boot boards, a new thermally stable shell, and a roomy toe box, the Remedy looks like a great option for our hard charging freeriders or anybody looking for race boot performance with just a little bit more versatility. Sweet!

Just as winter arrived last night, we hosted some of the staff from our local Queenstown accommodation partners for a very timely familiarisation evening.

These annual ‘famil’ nights give us an opportunify to invite hotel staff over for a small get together, where we can introduce ourselves and the work done by our retail, rental and workshop teams here at Browns. From bad puns and bootfitting insights to a tour of our rental operation, it’s a a great chance to make new friends and enjoy a good chinwag with our fellow frontline colleagues. Most of all, however, it’s a chance for us to show off what makes us, well, us!

The snow may be coming a little late to the party, but here at Browns we are already in full swing, ready and waiting to get you sorted for the winter ahead!

Across our retail and rental stores, we have a whole heap of new gear to check out, and have been busy training all of new (and older) staff for the season.

Whether you’re a beginner looking to head up for your first ever laps on snow, searching for a new addition to your quiver, or need to fix some damage from last seasons antics, then we’re here to help!

From Saturday, as the mountains continue their phased openings next week we’ll be transitioning towards our regular opening hours:

Rental — 8am to 6pm
Retail — 9am to 7pm

We are open from 10am to 6pm every day for you to drop your gear in, and it will be ready for collection before the main opening of the mountains on the 13th (or early for use on Snow Factory snow by arrangement).
