🌊 THE SURFER SERIES 🌊

Introducing The Surfer Series — a collection of fine-art coastal photography celebrating movement, light and those quiet moments between surfer and sea.

Each image has been created with intentional movement to give the ocean a soft, painterly quality while still capturing the energy of the surf.

These three pieces are available now in store at Lisa Kay Photography and can be printed in a variety of sizes to suit your space — from smaller prints through to statement wall art.
Choose your favourite or display all three together as a beautiful coastal collection.

PRINT OF THE WEEK

The Last Song

Hidden within the weathered walls of Endean's Mill, a forgotten piano sits silently, its worn keys bearing witness to the passage of time. Once filled with music and life, it now rests in quiet solitude, surrounded by the echoes of a bygone era.

The Last Song captures the beauty of decay and memory, inviting the viewer to imagine the melodies that once drifted through the room. The soft, painterly motion within the image creates a sense of lingering presence—as though the final notes have only just faded away.

"Though the music has long since fallen silent, its story remains within these walls." 🎹✨

📸 FEATURED LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER | Carole Garside

I’m delighted to have a selection of beautiful work by local award-winning photographer Carole Garside on display at Lisa Kay Photography.

Carole is a talented and passionate photographer who is actively involved with both the Waiuku and Pukekohe Camera Clubs, where she is an integral part of the photography community and generously contributes her time and experience across a number of roles.

Pictured are two of Carole’s stunning framed photographs currently on display in the shop. Click on each photo to read Carole’s own write-up and discover the story behind the image. We also have a selection of her A4 photographic prints and cards available.

I love being able to use my little gallery space not only to share my own photography, but also to showcase the work of talented photographers from our local community.

Pop in and have a look at Carole’s work in person. ❤️

📸 A Little Update to Opening Hours 📸

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has stopped by Lisa Kay Photography, had a look around, purchased something, or simply popped in for a chat. I really appreciate every bit of support! ❤️

As we head through the last stretch of winter, I’ve decided to make a small adjustment to the shop hours. For now, the shop will also be closed on Tuesdays, along with Mondays and Saturdays.

🌿 Updated Opening Days:
Wednesday – Friday: 10am–2pm
Sunday: 10am–2pm
Closed: Monday, Tuesday & Saturday

These hours aren’t set in stone! Once the weather gets warmer and we head into spring and summer, I’ll be reviewing the opening hours again and will likely extend the hours and open more days. ☀️

Thank you so much for continuing to support my little photography shop. I’m looking forward to seeing what the warmer months bring! 📷❤️

PRINT OF THE WEEK

Upward Dreams

There is something timeless about watching a hot air balloon rise into the sky—a quiet reminder that our dreams often begin by lifting our perspective. Upward Dreams was created using a photographic technique known as "In the Round," made famous by renowned photographer Pep Ventosa.

Rather than relying on a single photograph, this image is built from 30 individual photographs of the same scene, each captured from slightly different viewpoints. Every frame is carefully layered in Photoshop at varying levels of opacity, allowing shapes, colours and movement to blend into a single impressionistic image that captures not just what was seen, but what it felt like to stand among the balloons.

As we move into Creative August, I'll be sharing many more imaginative and experimental works exploring techniques like this. It also feels like the perfect time, with the Pukekohe Camera Club Creative Focus Salon results being announced this month—a celebration of creativity and photographic vision that continues to inspire artists to see beyond a single moment.
