A Goodbye From Dana
I’ve written and rewritten this post so many times because saying goodbye to something that has been such a huge part of my life for nearly five years is a weird feeling. I am actually a little lost for words - and I can already hear our volunteers gasping in disbelief. Miracles do happen, people! 😂
There are so many people I need to thank, but none more than my family. I still remember telling my husband what I wanted to do and him simply saying, “Hire the shipping containers and I’ll pick them up.” (I’m certain that’s how it went anyway!) From that day on, my family has been along for the rollercoaster ride. My eldest always knew where to find me when he needed some Mum advice, my daughter found confidence through volunteering, and my youngest gained another safe place where he could belong. The Op Shop really has been a second home for all of us.
What I’ll remember most, though, is the people associated with this place - the volunteers, customers, visitors, strangers that became friends with conversations, laughter, tears and the privilege of being able to help people along the way.
I have a new project I’m working on, and while I don’t know exactly where it will lead, anyone who knows me knows I don't sit still. I’ll keep looking for opportunities to make a positive difference and trust God with where the next chapter takes me.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. I’m incredibly grateful.
I’m not actually going very far, so this isn’t really goodbye…
