Welcome everyone to Event #368 and the beginning of spring!

Today was a beautiful spring day; the blooming daffodils and nature's regeneration brought a wonderful opportunity to connect as a community doing what we love: parkrun. Dayle and his volunteer squad of 17 welcomed us today and a huge high five to our volunteers. At every parkrun we stress the importance of these volunteers and it can't be stressed enough: without people volunteering every week the rest of the participants simply won't have their weekly run/walk at parkrun. Volunteering is integral to parkrun and every role is equally important. We have many opportunities so come on and put your hand up. Reach out to Karma or email [email protected] to discuss any roles. We would love to see you join the crew.

Other than that, it was a good day. Another great day was spent engaging with our community and getting our summer bods ready for the coming summer months.
I salute every single one of you for getting out of bed early on Saturday and coming down. A thought for next week: bring someone new to parkrun?. A little word of encouragement to a family member, loved one or a work colleague to perhaps give parkrun a go could sow the seeds for years of enjoyment in their lives and could change them for the better just like it has for all of us. A good thought for next Saturday. Until next week have a great week every single one of you legends!

Happy Parkrun Hump Day! 🐪🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

We’re officially halfway to Saturday… which means it’s totally acceptable to start thinking about parkrun, coffee and questionable outfit choices! 😂☕️

We have a fantastic roster full of parkrun ledgends 🧡
But could do with one more barcode scanner 📱🤞

Foster ParkRun #367

It was a clear morning with a hint of Spring in the air, the daffodils starting to venture out of the ground as the 174 Park runners gathered for the race brief.

The sun cast a pale glow on everything it touched and the path was covered with pollen and leaves as the participants took off with the promise of fabulous conditions and potential PB's.

Matthew Drury lead the way with his bright pink t-shirt, his stride lengthening with everything step as he pushed for a PB, and a spectacular PB it was! He was followed by a first timer to Foster James Welacotte and Matt Gregg. Megan Ellis lead the ladies, followed by Sammy Walton and Katharina Halkhoree.

Congratulations to our 18 people who achieved PB's and to our 16 first timers who I'm sure will return. Thank you to our amazing volunteers, we couldn't have done it without you and your smiles and encouragement.

ParkRun to me is being happy to see all the friendly faces and the warmth of the hugs from our ParkRun family, the excitement of the ParkRun pooches and the chatter of everyone up and ready to get moving early on a Saturday morning. There's no better way to start the weekend!

Foster Parkrun #366 - Tutus, Family and Some Massive Milestones!

Weather: overcast but not too cold and notably, no ice on the bridge!

Participants: 184 runners, joggers, and walkers

First Timers: 16 participants (11 doing their first-ever parkrun!)

Personal Bests: 14 new PBs achieved today

Milestone Spotlight: The Big 250! Today was an extra special celebration as my Auntie, and Foster Parkrun stalwart, Nancy Dimmock completed her 250th parkrun!

Nancy’s first Parkrun was at Foster Parkrun event #1 in 2018, and since then she has clocked a total of 243 at her favourite event! To make the morning even more memorable, Nancy was joined on the course and cheered on by family members and friends, along with the fantastic parkrun community. Joining the green shirt club is an incredible achievement—that's 1,250 kilometers of parkrunning dedication, as several of her great-nieces calculated on the course. Congratulations Nancy!

A big congratulations also to other Parkrun Milestone achievements today - Liam Thompson (J10), Sean Bearsley (25), Maria McCleod (350) and Steve Darby (800!!)

Tutu Day Celebrations Because today was the 22nd, parkrun tradition dictated one thing: Tutus!

The extra splash of tulle and sparkles added a welcome bit of colour and humor to a cloudy morning, as participants embraced the 22nd ("two-two") spirit.

First Finishers & Top Age Grades

Female: Hannah Oldroyd (17:39)

Male: Ashton Harris (18:04)

Highest Age Grade: Hannah Oldroyd (86.12%) and Phillip Chapman (81.61%)
