As some of you know, Tony and I chose my engagement ring together. The one that called to us, was a huge Moldavite Solitaire, nested in 14K Red Gold, called the "PHOENIX" by spiritualist designer Kim from Wicken Jewellery in Auckland.
Until this point, I had never heard of Moldavite. It was the colour of my green hazel eyes, and had a huge magnetic pull for me. I started learning about it, and discovered
-----it is a TEKTITE, glass formed when a meteorite crashed into Bohemia over 14 million years ago, sending matter up into the atmosphere, where it melted and fell back down to earth.
----- It is rarer than diamonds. Due to it's extraterrestrial birth, there is a limited amount to be mined. Mining has now ceased, and the moldavite in circulation is all that will be available.
-----It is folk-named "THE HOLY GRAIL STONE" - said to have fallen at the same time as the angels
-----Moldavite is an extremely high vibrational gemstone. It is known to create flushes of energy through your body when you start wearing or working with it.
-----Moldavite is truly a stone of SHADOW WORK. The transformation of working on yourself, and transmuting darkness into light. In my opinion, the very meaning of life.
-----Moldavite is a journey. For some, the change can be astronomical. Because change is scary for a lot of people, and what you want doesn't always line up with what you need, some think Moldavite can be bad luck. It is not - it is simply a very powerful catalyst.
I have been actively shadow-working since 2010 when my life fell to pieces and I left it there, choosing to build anew. My ongoing art series "PROJECT TANIWHA" is a collection of experiences from real people all over the world, showing the value of dealing with the emotional monsters we all carry. Tony also has been on this journey, so it's no real wonder that Moldavite - the stone of transformation called to us when selecting a gemstone to base our marriage upon.
NOW - after months of searching - I have been blessed with a wonderful connection on the other side of the world, near the site of the meteorites landing, who is helping me to import a select few pieces of genuine authenticated moldavite to work into special jewellery items of my own design.
This is a beautiful thing for me, as Moldavite is only going to become harder and harder to get hold of, especially in gemstone quality. It is also getting harder to tell genuine moldavite from fake, as it's popularity has spawned many copycats. My pieces will be guaranteed and empowered.
