Shop online or visit our stores in Waipapa, Silverdale & Henderson. "The Grow & Brew Shop" was born in 2007, when it was rebranded from being "Northern Hydroponics". It was bought by the current owners in March 2021. Along with the 2 stores in Waipapa, and Silverdale, in April 2022 we add Henderson to the fold. These days, the home brewing and distillation aspect of the store is very prominent, and our expertise in this field is widely recognised. We love helping you create the best possible b**rs, w**es and spirits. Of course, we still stock all your hobby horticultural supplies to keep your home garden thriving. Our aim and desire is to help other ordinary Kiwis like ourselves to enjoy creating their home grown and brewed produce. We know that with a little effort you can create "better than bought" consumables for less.

We’ve got Essencia Barrel Chunk infusions happening at all three G&B stores, with some seriously interesting combinations soaking away and letting the oak work its magic.

🥃 Wh**ky-Soaked Spanish Oak Sherry Barrel Chunks

And these aren’t just any old bits of timber — the barrel chunks are made from genuine oak barrels that have previously aged spirits, bringing that history and character along for the ride. As they infuse, they can add extra depth, character and complexity to your homemade spirits — giving them some serious barrel-aged swagger without needing to find room for an actual barrel in the shed. 😉

These Long Red Cayenne & Jwala chillies were grown right here in store — and while we were at it, we put a couple of brews through their paces too. 😉

🍺 Czech Premium Pale L***r (Czech Pilsner)
Made with a Black Rock Pilsner B**r Kit and given a crafty twist with Czech Saaz hops to give that authentic crisp, spicy finish.

🍺 “NZ Classic” International L***r
Made with the Brick Road Dry L***r Kit, boosted with Motueka hops to bring those classic Kiwi lime & citrus notes.

Both are available to sample in store at Grow & Brew Waipapa.

B**r gets all the attention. Mead just quietly gets on with being legendary.

People have been casually brewing it for thousands of years... which is a pretty solid endorsement if you ask us.

Like honey? You’re gonna LOVE mead.

A huge thanks to everyone who braved the soggy weather on Saturday to join us at G&B Silverdale for our Pure Distilling Day! 🙌

Andrew from Pure Distilling put on a cracking live distilling demo, we had spirit & liqueur tasters to sample, plenty of good chats — and of course, the BBQ was fired up because no G&B event is complete without sausages! 🌭😂

Big thanks to Andrew for coming along and sharing his distilling know-how, and an even bigger thanks to everyone who turned up despite the weather doing its absolute worst.

You guys are legends. ❤️

Thankfully, no-one was hurt — that’s the main thing! 🙌 The van? Not quite so lucky. 😂

Add RHP quality, reusable coco and 100% recyclable packaging, and suddenly that humble coconut is looking like a bit of an overachiever.
