🎣 LONG WEEKEND FISHING FORECAST 🎣

Let’s be honest. The weather isn’t exactly rolling out the red carpet this long weekend.

But in the Far North, some of the best fishing often happens between the weather, not after it.

A lot of anglers look at the forecast and stay home.

The smart ones look for the windows.

A few hours before the front.
A change of tide.
A sheltered coastline that suits the wind direction.
That’s often all you need.

The Far North gives us options. East coast, west coast, harbours, beaches and rocky points. If one spot is getting hammered, there’s usually another that’s fishable.

Keep an eye on the forecast.
Watch the tides. Fish the Moon 🌕

And when that weather gap opens, make the most of it.
Who’s heading out this long weekend?

Cause you can bet we are 😎🎣

What do Taipa Tackle staff get up to on winter days off when we close the shop doors?

Probably should’ve been mowing the lawns… but after spending the last few weeks launching long rods into the surf chasing snapper, gurnard and trevs, it was about time the short rods got a turn instead 🎣

Deadbaits out.
Livebaits in.
Kingfish time.

Best part?
The mission was right in our backyard. Only used 8 litres of gas all day which these days feels like a financial achievement in itself.

A bit of time spent catching livies, a tide change, plenty of patience and eventually the Far North turned it on like it usually does. Wasn’t exactly glassed off either, but tucked in the lee of the wind it was more than fishable.

A few kings hit the deck, plenty of fish went back, a feed came home and everyone got a solid reset from the shop grind.

We always say it, but living up here really is pretty bloody special. One minute you’re standing on the beach with surf rods, next minute you’re pinned to the rail getting dragged around by kingies not far from home.

If you want a breakdown of the gear involved or want to hear more about the fishy yarn behind it all, swing into the shop. You know we don’t hold back or keep too many secrets 👀

Fresh in. Freshly bagged.

These anchovies don’t even get a welcome party. Straight into the bag and vac packed to seal in all that oily, firm goodness. Just prime bait ready for your hook. Blink and they’re gone.

Surfcasters rate them for a reason. Oily. Tough. Proper snapper magnets.

With Snapper Bonanza only weeks away and $30,000 on the line, this isn’t the time to be feeding the crabs freezer burnt leftovers.

If you want fresher, you’ll have to catch them yourself. Load up. Fish smart. Let the anchovies do the talking 🎣💸

Grab yours in store at 562 State Highway 10, Taipa.
First left over the Taipa Bridge on the main Highway North 🙌

Your rig is only as good as what it’s tied to 🎣

We rate Asso Surf FC because it handles real beach conditions. Sand. Shell. Long casts. Current.

Fluorocarbon coated for added abrasion resistance
Low memory so you’re not fighting coils
Smooth casting for distance
High vis blue so you can track your line and spot bites faster

Mainline matters more than most anglers think.

Available in store and online at taipatackle.com 🎣

Sometimes the smallest piece makes the biggest difference 🎣

Adam breaks down when where and how to use silicone tubing on your rigs
What it does
Why it matters
And when not to overthink it

Silicone tubing keeps your Snapper Candy’s close to the hook where it counts, while still allowing natural movement when a fish inhales your bait so the Candy’s can slide freely out of the bite zone instead of working against the hook up.

No fluff. Just real rig talk.

Grab silicone tubing, Snapper Candy’s and all your rigging essentials in store at Taipa Tackle or online at snappercandy.com under DIY RIGS

Build better rigs. Catch more fish 🍬🎣
