The stores are local independent businesses offering friendly personal service. Taradale Village offers a range of cafes and restaurants set in relaxed surroundings with great food at reasonable price. Finish your day with a well-earned drink & delicious local cuisine at one of the lively bars or restaurants in our village. Meet Zac from Taradale Breakers 👋🍔

Zac started as a kitchen hand with Breakers in Napier 13 years ago, then moved to the Taradale store the day it opened. Five years ago, he took the leap and became the owner.

He got into cooking after following in his mum's footsteps, she was a chef too, and he's loved it ever since.

Buying the store right as COVID hit made for a rough start, but he stuck with it and kept the doors open. Taradale is now the last remaining Breakers store, with people travelling from as far as Wellington, Gisborne, and Hastings just for a taste of it.

Zac says owning a business comes with real stress, but he still loves cooking and wouldn't trade it for working for anyone else. His focus now is building the business up and connecting more with other Taradale businesses, alongside a food truck he's hoping to launch early next year.

Breakers is a relaxed, family friendly spot, simple food done well in a quick service setting, bring the kids and just enjoy a meal!

Happy Father’s Day! 🤍

We had the pleasure of handing out the majority of prizes for our Father’s Day giveaway yesterday, some lucky dads walked away with something special, thanks to our amazing local businesses.

A massive thank you to Cleva Chiropractic, Porky’s, Gee’s Pharmacy, BeauKayes, Danny’s Barbershop, Jim’s Test & Tag, Bay Espresso, and Breakers Taradale for getting on board and making this happen.

It’s been awesome seeing these gifts shared, whether that’s dads treating themselves, or daughters and partners picking them up to gift to the fathers and partners in their lives.
