So this happened last night and it was pretty cool... we won the Retail category of the Taupo Towncentre Stella Awards. You'll be pleased to know none of us tripped in high heels getting on and off the stage!! (Yes it's a concern for those of us who live in sneakers.) And while I normally try and think about what I would say if we won ahead of time, this year I just plain forgot, so it was all off the cuff and hopefully not too waffly.

What I meant to say was that I'm incredibly grateful to have this business, such incredible customers, this shop space and staff who feel more like sisters than employees. Being in business has not been easy, always learning, always feeling like there's something I should be doing, a lot of time spent at work rather than at home but the young girl who dreamt about having her own florist shop would be so proud.

I've been holding on to this branch for about a year because I loved the shape. I was asked to make something to go above a bed that wouldn't have little bits falling off with a pop of red and orange. The strawflowers are perfect because they'll hold their colour and don't have little leaves. All tied with twine, so completely sustainable.
