THE POT HOUSE

THE POT HOUSE The Pot House Gallery exemplifies the diverse nature of ceramic art serving not just as a display space but as a vibrant community hub.

Our Gallery plays a pivotal role in the cultural landscape of the Bay of Plenty and includes the only dedicated Ceramics Exhibition Gallery in the Bay, Artist Studios and nurtures regional talent and esteemed potters from across Aotearoa. The eclectic range of ceramics on display in the quirky gingerbread house appeals to a wide audience and showcasing the creativity of local artists. This gallery fosters a unique environment where visitors can engage with the artists themselves, bridging the gap between creator and observer, and deepening the appreciation for the craft. In addition to showcasing the talents of ceramicists, the Pot House Gallery plays a pivotal role in the cultural landscape of the Bay of Plenty. It includes the only dedicated Ceramics Exhibition Gallery in the Bay, nurturing New Zealand talent and providing platforms for artists to showcase and thrive. As part of the Historic Village Tauranga, the gallery is situated in a cultural hotspot that is rapidly evolving. The surrounding area, filled with other galleries, artisan boutiques, and unique cultural experiences, creates a rich tapestry of artistic expression that invites exploration and engagement. Visitors to the gallery are not just passive observers; they become part of a thriving artistic community, encouraged to connect with the work and the artists behind it.

What a way to wrap up our 2026 evening openings. 💛

Thank you to everyone who came along to our September Art Street Party – our last evening opening for 2026 – and what an amazing night it was!

It was wonderful to see everyone out enjoying the art, connecting with one another, and sharing in the warmth of a Friday evening together at The Village.

From the moving Artful Mind exhibition to the playful Kiln Gods, Ian Howell's hypnotic kinetic sculptures, and Doreen McNeill's stunning work – thank you for taking the time to experience it all with us. It was a night that truly celebrated everything we love about this community. Thank you to Mathew Johnson for capturing images of the evening.

To our artists, our volunteers, our sponsors at Gate Pa New World, the wonderful Alice Sea for serenading us, and every single person who walked through our doors – thank you. You made it a night to remember.

What's coming up next:
🎪 October – Tauranga Fringe Fest
☀️ November – Saturday morning opening for 118

The Kiln Gods have arrived! 🔥🏺

We invited potters and ceramists to create guardian figures to watch over our brand-new tabletop kiln. Comd and see them at The Pot House – and take home one of your very own!

Kiln gods have protected the firing process for centuries. Today, potters craft their own playful guardians from leftover clay — symbols of hope, superstition, and skill.

Fun, funky, and full of character — these protectors are ready to find new homes. Place one by your fireplace, beside the heat pump, or somewhere it can quietly watch over your whānau. 💛

On display until 17 Oct | 10am–3pm
📍 The Pot House, The Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga

The Incubator is THRILLED to announce the opening of our new Kiln Shed—an exciting new addition to the creative offerings and opportunities that make up The Incubator! 🏺✨ This uber cute red shed—full of character and personality—is the embodiment of a long-held dream to create a dedicated ceramics resource, and it's finally happening!

The journey to this moment began eight years ago with a feasibility study, which led to the purchase of our large community kiln—and now, at last, it has a home! We've been working with The Historic Village ever since to find the perfect spot for this community asset, and we are so grateful for their partnership and support in making this dream a reality. 🙏

The Kiln Shed now gives us two kilns—one large and one small—ready to fire! We can finally offer firing services to the public, become a go-to spot for clay supplies, and run workshops—with all classes held just next door in the Creative Campus! 🎨🔥

What to expect:
✅ Kiln firings for groups, individuals, kura (schools) and businesses
✅ Ceramics workshops (held next door in the Creative Campus)
✅ Clay and pottery supplies

Booking details will be available online once we open our doors. Stay tuned for the official opening date! 🗓️

📸 Check out our adorable new Kiln Shed—so much personality in one little building!
