October is Wool Month!

We're already over halfway through October, but we couldn't let Wool Month pass without celebrating one of our favourite things!

There's so much to love about wool. It's natural, breathable, warm, durable and wonderfully versatile. And of course, there's something pretty special about turning a beautiful ball of yarn into something you've made with your own two hands.

Here at Tauranga Knitting Centre, we love helping you find just the right yarn for your next creation. Whether you're knitting a cosy jumper, crocheting a blanket or trying something completely new, there's a world of wonderful wool waiting to be discovered. And with New Zealand's rich wool-growing heritage, we've got even more reason to celebrate this fabulous fibre.

There is something exciting happening at Tauranga Knitting Centre!

If you haven’t heard the news yet, Pania (in the photo) and Nick are the new owners, and they are looking forward to getting to know everyone who loves a good knitting or crochet project.

There's plenty to look forward to, including fresh ideas, new inspiration and plans to bring even more creativity into the shop.

But one thing isn't changing. We're still the place where you can pop in with a pattern, ask for advice, find your next favourite yarn or have a good chat about what you're making.

To our wonderful regular customers, thank you for being part of what makes this shop special. And if you haven't visited us before, we'd love to meet you! You'll find us at 11th Avenue Plaza in Tauranga.

Well… what a wild first few days!

We’ve officially taken over Tauranga Knitting Centre, met so many wonderful customers already, and been completely blown away by the support from our friends and family.

Now we’re looking forward to settling in over the next few weeks, finding our feet and getting to know even more of you.

Same shop. Same products you know and love. New faces behind the counter… and a few new ideas coming too.

But first, we want to see what YOU have been making!

So we’re kicking things off with our first giveaway.

Bring a project into the shop that you’ve made using yarn purchased from Tauranga Knitting Centre — or take a photo, post it and tag us.

We’d love to see your finished knits, crochet projects, old favourites, new creations… all of it.

And we especially want to know… who has the oldest Tauranga Knitting Centre project still going strong?

You’ll go in the draw to WIN one of TWO $100 Tauranga Knitting Centre gift vouchers!

So dig through the wardrobe, pull out those treasured makes and show us what you’ve created.

And because opening day deserves a little celebration, we’ll be hanging around from 4–6pm on Thursday for some sneaky bubbles 🥂
