When we picked up this leather book it was damaged with mould. First it was dry cleaned and UV treated, then a weak solvent was applied to kill the spores. Then the leather was conditioned and polished
before we returned it to it's owner today

This book arrived in the bindery in a sad state. We needed to take the old covers off to rebind the book. Unfortunately, the advertisements on the front and back end papers were too fragile to try to restore. We were able to make new ones as close as possible to the original.

Mark attended a course in Sydney about paper restoration taken by Karen Vidler an archivist in private practice and at West Dean College in Adelaide.
If you have any books that are in reasonable condition but the paper has torn, or become dirty or mouldy, give us a call. We'd be pleased to have a look at it to see if it is possible to clean and repair. This includes the dreaded sellotape marks.
