Night 8 – normal service has resumed 🙌
After an early start to make our tour time, it was straight to the dock and onto the boat to experience Milford Sound — often called the 8th wonder of the world.
Hard to say no to that.
And to be fair… it delivered.
It was rainy, but in Milford that’s actually what you want. The rain brings the place to life, with waterfalls appearing everywhere, pouring down the cliffs from all angles.
We got properly soaked, took in some unreal views, grabbed a few snaps… and timed it pretty well.
One key thing with Milford — get in early, get out early.
By late morning, it starts to get busy. A lot of people come in on day trips from Queenstown, mainly by bus, and with around 5,000 visitors a day, it fills up quickly.
There are loads of tour companies to choose from, and depending on the season, you can either book in advance or grab a spot on the day at the kiosk (worth keeping an eye on the weather if you can).

After the tour, we headed back to Te Anau for the night and decided to play it safe this time…
A proper campsite.
No surprises, fewer mozzies, and a much more relaxed setup.
Dinner was simple — crackers, cheese and a couple of G&T’s to round off the day.

Milford Sound verdict:
An amazing experience and 100% worth doing…
But one of those places where once you’ve seen it, you probably don’t need to go back 👍
