With Cyclone Vaianu due to arrive tomorrow, we’ve decided to close the shop for Sunday.
Looking very calm in the firth at the moment - well compared to the eastern side of the peninsula.
Hope you’ve all taken the time the tie everything down at your place, remember to check on your neighbours to see if they need help!

Keep safe and we wish all those in the path of the storm suffer little or no damage….

Happy New Year to all. Wishing all our customers a wonderful year, great weather for fishing and of course - tight lines...

Happy Winter Solstice Day!
Happy Matariki Weekend!

At winter solstice (7.30pm tonight) the sun is at its most northern point in the sky. After the solstice, days gradually get more hours of sunlight - although temperatures continue to get colder for a time. More daylight is something we all look forward to!

Did you know, Matariki is the name of a star cluster in the constellation of Ta**us, which rises on the horizon towards the end of May each year and heralds Te Mātahi o te Tau, the Māori New Year.
The arrival of Matariki signals that it is time for people to gather, honour the dead, celebrate the present, and make plans for the future.

Loose rock and debris at the landslide front made it unsafe to open a lane before this time. Geotechnical investigations and clearance work have now been completed.
