Wow, what a month!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped us celebrate 25 years in business. We loved hearing your memories of our past stores and seeing that so many of you still have pieces from the early days.

Through all the ups and downs over the past 25 years, we're so grateful to call the Upper Hutt community ours. The support from our loyal customers over the years has meant the world to us, and we're incredibly thankful to everyone who has chosen to shop with us and support our small business.

To everyone who joined us for our birthday celebration last Saturday, thank you for making it such a wonderful day! It was so lovely to celebrate this milestone with so many familiar faces, and we hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did.

Here’s to the next 25 years and everything still to come. Thank you for being part of the journey. 🥂

And just like that, we’ve reached the final chapter of our 25-year journey! 🥳

By 2016, another massive change was on the horizon for Avisons. We loved our character shop at 113 Main Street, but we were ready to create a more modern, open space for our growing collections.

That’s when we took the leap and moved across the road into the old Wheelers shop at 110 Main Street. It hadn't been touched in over 40 years, so it was a major refit (swipe to see the photos!).

This chapter truly became a full family affair. Gayleen’s husband, Deane, and son, Ethan, jumped on board to help us expand into the old J&N model shop next door. It was a massive renovation-including the unforgettable task of knocking down the solid brick wall between the two stores! It gave us the space to bring in larger furniture, wall art, and our men's ranges.

In 2023, after some incredibly tough years for retail, we made the brave decision to downsize and streamline. Ethan moved on to start his own successful business, Deane embraced semi-retirement, and in 2024, we gave the shop and our brand the fresh, beautiful look you see today.

And with that, we have officially shared 25 years of Avisons. To everyone who has walked through our doors, shared a chat, or supported us over the last two and a half decades-thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We couldn't have done it without you 💚

A very special part of the Avisons journey 🐾

As we look back over 25 years, we couldn’t forget two of our most important (and best-behaved… most of the time) shop assistants… Zac and Bella!

We would bring them into the shop most days, and they quickly became part of the furniture, greeting customers, soaking up pats, and keeping a close eye on everything happening in-store 🥰

Zac had a very important role as the unofficial delivery announcer, making sure everyone knew when the courier trolleys were arriving with new goodies. Meanwhile, Bella had mastered the art of finding the perfect spot on the counter, soaking up all the attention and enjoying the best view of the shop.

They brought so much joy to so many of our customers over the years, and we still miss them dearly.

Who remembers these two? They were a very special part of the Avison's family!
