Making joy visible. 🌼❤️

Sometimes I paint simply because colour needs somewhere to go.

This original mixed-media floral began without a rigid plan — layers of colour, palette-knife marks, texture and movement gradually finding their own way across the surface.

Up close, it is wonderfully imperfect. Step back, and the flowers begin to emerge.

Painted today, and now drying on my easel. 🌸🎨

A little explosion of colour, flowers and feeling.

I painted this with one simple thought in mind: to make joy visible — especially on the days when joy might be a little harder to find.

There is something wonderfully uplifting about putting colour onto a blank surface and watching it come alive. Today, these colourful florals were exactly what I needed.

After layers of colour, texture, pauses and plenty of looking, this joyful floral painting is nearly ready for its signature. I love seeing it here in the natural light, with the garden and Kāpiti Island beyond.

Created slowly, intuitively and with a great deal of joy.
