Published as the first English edition in 1977 by Sampson Low.

Happy is the Pioneer’ by Pioneer Bushman Joe Dahm, illustrated by Donna Dahm.

Small soft card covered book personally autographed by the author and the illustrator.
Sound condition but there are some stains on the back and front covers.

The book tells the story of Olaf, an old Norwegian tree feller who lived in the Ruakituri Valley. It gives a vivid insight into how the earliest settlers created a life for themselves by using what was at hand around them. The 42-page book details how to use an axe and how to cut wood to build a house, accompanied by line drawings showing the various methods used and how to go about creating that house. $10
