Dasato Woodworking

Dasato Woodworking Dasato woodworking was born out of the Covid lockdown of 2020. I stumbled into woodworking as a way of keeping myself sane and have loved it ever since.

I love working with native New Zealand Timber to make beautiful character-filled pieces.

There’s something special about a serving board that already has a story. This reclaimed rimu paddle board is handcrafted from native New Zealand timber, bringing those golden tones, natural grain lines, and character filled knots right to your table. It’s the kind of piece that makes cheese nights, grazing platters, and shared meals feel a little more intentional.

Smooth to the touch, finished with a food safe oil and beeswax blend, and shaped for easy serving - it’s practical, beautiful and sustainably made. If you love pieces with real personality, this one’s ready to become your go-to board.

It’s great watching the grain pop when the oil hits these Totara bottle openers. This batch is almost ready for the hardware to be added, one more coat of Tung oil to go.

These three reclaimed rimu boards have some of the most unique grain I’ve seen. Love how they have come out, the finish really sets off the grain. Just need to buff off the board butter and they are ready for a new home!

The transformation from reclaimed to newly milled timber is always one that I enjoy. It’s amazing to see what timber destined for landfill can become with a little time and effort.

Every year I tell myself I need to start preparing for Christmas markets and sales early. This year I feel like it actually might happen! Starting to rough cut spatulas and other small gift items to stockpile for finishing at a later date.

First coat of danish oil going on this flock of book birds. When that oil hits kauri and rimu it just looks amazing! 🤩
