🥰🎉 our vegan white chocolate has been named as a finalist in the New Zealand Food Awards in the artisan and the technical innovation categories and we couldn’t be happier! 💕🎉

when we created this bar we were determined to make a cane sugar free, vegan white chocolate that didn’t feel like a compromise, a bar that people would choose even if they weren’t dairy and cane sugar free, and judging by your response we definitely did it!💫

this is what the judges had to say our bar, it was
‘praised for its depth of flavour, balanced sweetness and successful ex*****on of a challenging formulation, with several judges noting it exceeded expectations for a dairy-free alternative.’

and ‘overall, it was regarded as an ambitious, innovative and highly enjoyable product.’ 🎉

the final results will be announced in October so we’ll keep you posted 💕🥰

launching tomorrow, world chocolate day, with a pop up shop at spacefor Pavillon Brittomart

A Bar Apart is a collection of bean-to-bar chocolate makers who share the same values of being open about the source of the cacao they use, transparent about their chocolate making process and a commitment to operating ethically

If you’re in Auckland pop in and try some of the delicious chocolate available for tasting (including lots of be happy chocolate obviously) 😋

it’s freezing outside 🥶 and Martinborough has been cut off by flooding

but we’re keeping warm processing some of our lovely beans

after sorting the beans we put them through a gentle short roast to develop flavour, reduce moisture and loosen the outer husks

every batch of cacao is different so we adjust our process to get the best form each batch

the nicest thing about roasting beans (apart from the warmth) is the the fact that it fills the whole space with an aroma like freshly baked brownies 😋🥰

we hope you’re staying warm and dry and that you’ve got some good chocolate to hand 🥰

Oh my goodness!

here at be happy hq our little team was so honoured to receive the news that our chocolate won all three awards in the milk/white chocolate category at the The Vegan Society of Aotearoa, New Zealand vegan chocolate awards 🥰💕

we entered three bars:
🌟our vegan m*lk chocolate with gooey caramel bar
🌟our vegan white chocolate bar
🌟and our vegan white chocolate with gooey caramel bar

and we won the gold, silver and bronze medals, taking out all three medals in the milk/white chocolate category 🥰💕🥰

and congratulations to the other winners especially to She Universe who came out as the supreme winners 🎉🥰🎉
