Eid Mubarak to my Family and Friends celebrating today! I had a little try at quilting and decided to go with a classic choice for Eid; an eight-pointed star, which is a central motif in Islamic art and architecture. I'd never heard of a mug rug before this week, but its super cute to hold your mug and a cheeky snack!

So excited to finally share my friends wedding dress that I made last year. The style of dress was based on one of Jacqui's favourite polka dot dresses that suited her wonderful shape to perfection.
The fabric was bought in Christchurch from The Fabric Store who were amazing to work with.
Congratulations Jacqui, you both look amazing and I wish you a lifetime of happiness together. ❤️

Day 3 of the Digital Pattern Library 3 day design challenge and its all about scale and proportion. I tried scaling up the spiral on the dress, lengthening the string cardigan, scaling down the spiral and shortening the dress, cropping the string cardigan, enlarging the honeycomb feature and spiral sleeves, lengthening the honeycomb dress and finally shortening to a mini with more honeycomb and partnering with some knee-highs, because why not!? Stay tuned for the final design that I'll submit, you have to wait because I'm still deciding which. 😂

Day 2 of the 3 day design challenge with Digital Pattern Library, here's my initial very quick sketches in pencil then rendered with colour. I've gone for:
1. A honeycomb hem skirt with little split, ankle boots with leather straps up the calf. A simple top with snuggly oversized cropped cardigan, finished off with a leather choker.
2. A long one-sided beige/gold tabard type top with costume honeycomb necklace, spiral sleeves and a two-tone trouser.
3. A figure hugging jersey dress [what's better than comfort in winter], with a spiral feature and string style cardigan to finish off.

Which is your favourite?
[It doesn't need to be what you would necessarily wear or what would be practical]. 😂

TOTALLY lost my sewing motivation recently, my friends! An international move, away from my comfort zone and just, ya know, a lot of life stuff that needed my attention more than I did! So, I've signed up to another 3 day design challenge with the amazing Digital Pattern Library to try and get some creativity flowing again. Day 1 of my answer to the brief [a winter outfit inspired by folklore/mythology].
Here's a brain dump of all images that tickle my fancy and a slightly more refined mood board to follow. Although beginning with fairies and wings, I was quickly dragged down an orcish route and all things weaponry, piercings and bones (not my usual style, but thats the beauty of design; who shall I be today?).
There's still work to be done, but I've begun, thats a step in the right direction ay!?
