Join us in beautiful Paihia on 6 & 7 November for the UFBA Leadership Workshop and discover practical tools, insights and learnings that have already benefited more than 1,000 UFBA members. 🙌

Over two days, you’ll explore how to:

The UFBA are delighted to see that there is clear cross-party support making similar promises for improvements to the wellbeing of all our members.

Today, Labour MP, Lemauga Lydia Sosene, confirmed that the party will make Kieran McAnulty’s members bill government policy - extending ACC cover to volunteer firefighters who are currently not covered for work-related illness or injuries.

Green’s co-leader, Chloe Swarbrick, also reiterated on the steps of parliament today that the Party will support Mike Davidson’s members bill to presume occupational cancers for all firefighters.

The UFBA will continue to work with these major parties and keep you informed.

Can’t make it to the AGM this October? Your brigade can still have its say!

If your brigade isn’t registered to attend the AGM, you can send a Proxy Vote with a neighbouring brigade that is attending.

To make this easy, we’ve published a list of Member Brigades with a registered delegate on our website. You can use this list to find a brigade to act as your proxy.

📋 You’ll also find the Proxy Vote form on our website. Both your brigade and your chosen proxy voting brigade will need to complete the form.

If you are carrying a Proxy Vote:
🔹 You must bring the completed Proxy Vote form with you to the AGM.
🔹 At registration, you’ll receive your delegate voting card, plus a proxy card to vote on behalf of the brigade you are representing.
🔹 Each delegate may hold ONE Proxy Vote in addition to their own brigade’s vote.

Make sure your brigade’s voice is heard at this year’s AGM!

FENZ has advised that Microsoft Publisher is being retired from 1 October 2026. This means Publisher will no longer be available through FENZ Microsoft 365 accounts, and you will no longer be able to open, edit or create Publisher (.pub) files using the application.

If your brigade uses Publisher for things like newsletters, calendars, invitations, posters or other templates, now is the time to check what files you have and convert anything you still need.

FENZ recommends:
👉 Converting Publisher templates you still use to Word or PowerPoint
👉 Converting important Publisher files you need to keep for reference to PDF
👉 Using approved Microsoft applications such as Word or PowerPoint for new publications going forward.

Important note: Don’t delete existing Publisher files. FENZ Records Management team is working with ICT on options to preserve existing files and meet record-keeping requirements.

The change takes effect 1 October, so we encourage brigades that use Publisher to start preparing now.

We’re pleased to have 342 UFBA member brigades registered with a voting delegate for our 148th Annual General Meeting in Auckland - this represents 50% of our member brigades 🙌

If your brigade doesn’t have a delegate attending, you can still make sure your vote counts by appointing a proxy to vote on your behalf.

To make this easier, we’ve published the names of the brigades with registered delegates on our website. Take a look and see if a neighbouring brigade is attending – you may be able to arrange for their delegate to carry your proxy vote.

The AGM is your brigade’s opportunity to have a say in the decisions that shape your Association by voting on motions.
