If your gear still moves even after tightening the straps, the issue usually isn’t the straps themselves. Most movement starts with the setup underneath the load. Poor positioning, an unsupported overhang, uneven pressure, or even the wrong accessory can cause movement, even when everything feels tightly secured. Straps are designed to secure a properly supported load, not compensate for a setup that isn’t matched correctly in the first place. That’s why different gear often needs completely different support systems. A kayak, bike, roof box, or ladder setup all distribute weight differently and need different mounting approaches to stay stable on the road.
When we fit roof rack systems at Roof Rack Centre, we make sure the entire setup works together properly, not just that it technically fits on the roof.
