Newlands Community Centre Hall
from 1pm - 4pm!

💙 National Volunteer Week 2026

Volunteers come from all walks of life, but they share one thing in common, a desire to make a difference.

Meet Amanda Burke, who has supported Mary Potter Hospice's Street Appeal for several years, first as a collector and more recently as an Area Coordinator.

Amanda says one of the things she enjoys most about volunteering is the people she meets along the way.

"I LOVE the other amazing volunteers that join in to help with collection day. They are an awesome bunch of people, are super helpful, great company and so happy to help out."

She also treasures the small moments of connection that happen throughout the day and the opportunity to contribute to an organisation that supports so many people in our community.

For Amanda, volunteering is also about setting an example for her family and showing how a few hours can make a meaningful difference.

Her advice for anyone considering volunteering?

"Do it! There are many ways to help Mary Potter Hospice continue providing this valuable service. If you can spare a couple of hours, this is for you."

We are super excited and happy that Newlands Community Centre will be reopen!
Fingers crossed we have an update on our shop reopening for you later this week 🙏

We are SO happy that Newlands Community Centre will be open to the public again from midday Thursday 11 June. This follows a blessing ceremony in the morning.
The centre returns to normal hours (9.30am - 5.00pm, Mon - Fri) from Friday 12 June.

We are happy to have this seminar by Dementia Wellington happening at our Centre next month. Dementia affects many people in the community, this free talk gives an overview of what dementia is and supports available.
