Welcome to our Slow Travel page! Slow travel is all about taking time to see, smell, hear and touch a place, to get under its skin and linger for a while. Rather than to rush through at top speed just to say you've been there and done that. I've had itchy feet for as long as I can remember. At least since I used to climb a high cliff in my home town, with my Dad, and wonder what exciting, undiscov
ered lands were across the other side of the vast ocean stretching out before us. But it wasn't until I was 16 that I first left England for my first experience of foreign lands. I've had the bug ever since. Coconut Lands is my blog in which I recall some of my favourite experiences but also some of my greatest challenges as a slow traveller. My inspiration for starting Emporio Coco was a wonderful store that I used to visit in a street just off Piccadilly, London, during the 1990s. It was a travellers' store, full of practical, comfortable yet very stylish clothing and accessories for well-heeled Mayfair ladies. I couldn't afford anything but I loved to window shop, and dream. It was a treasure chest of beautiful things.
