Nicolas’ Bari sax and Seun’s Alto sax have had a rough start to their tour in New Zealand. Over 10 hours of work and with an hour before sound check, we are relieved to have gotten both instruments ready for the show at Auckland Town Hall tonight!

Despite the trombone being taller than him, this 5-year-old certainly wowed us with his playing!

This is the placement of a 0.001” thick shim behind a flute pad. Before this, the leak has to be detected and gauged. One pad could require multiple shims, while some may require none. And there are at least 13 shimmed pads in a flute.

Would you have the patience and focus to set-up an entire flute? How about multiple flutes in a week?

Many of you will know legendary jazz horn player and composer Geoff Culverwell, who recently passed away.

Geoff was a regular at our shop in Wellington, and we are selling several of his instruments on behalf of his estate. Nearly all of them come with Geoff’s customary bent mouthpieces (from what we know, he ‘had a guy’ who did the bending for him).
