Spot a weka. Then guard your lunch.

You won't have to look hard - the weka usually finds you. Cheeky, flightless, and completely unbothered by your personal space, they patrol car parks and campsites across Buller like they own the place. (They do.)

Whatever you do, don't feed them - they've already got a plan for your sandwich.

Charleson emerged from nowhere in 1866, as a bustling gold rush town.
Check out the new panels we have provided about Charleston’s amazing history as part of the heritage story along the trail.
Have a read and then go for a walk down Princes Street to Constant Bay.
