Hi Everyone,
We have an important update on the upcoming Due Drop Hope Challenge]
As you know this adventure was due to start on Tuesday the 14th of February at Cape Reinga but with a category 3 cyclone about to hit the far North of the island we have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel the first 2 days of the tour, potentially more.
This immediately affects the Mangōnui and Russell events and possibly One Tree Point but we are keeping our fingers crossed that maybe we can still get up there.
This was not a decision made in haste, it was a decision made under advisement of Civil Defence. They have advised that roads are to be used only for essential travel of locals and emergency services and we will abide by their request.
The safety of everyone; both our team and your community, is of the utmost importance to us.
However, with the unpredictable nature of weather events this is subject to change and we will keep you updated regularly with developments.
Our team are ready to set off at the drop of a hat should the situation change to allow this!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and understanding during this difficult time. Your willingness to back our team has been nothing short of incredible leading up to this and we appreciate you all!
We understand that this news may cause inconvenience and disappointment, trust me our team are struggling with the setback too!
It’s going to take some real mental fortitude for the team to adapt to a new plan but that’s exactly what this whole challenge is about.
It represents life and the curve balls it throws at us. Together as a team we will rally around one another to move forward.
I am however committed to rescheduling a visit to your community for a later date, after the challenge is completed, when I can work some dates for you.
