Sock update Sunday. I have abandoned all sock projects because 8 solid colours have arrived from West Yorkshire Spinners in the Signature 4 ply. They’re fab! I took the picture in the grey background. On my screen they are pretty good compared to in person- yours might differ. I’m thinking I need three of these colours to knit stripy socks with contrasting heels and toes. I used my trusty colour wheel to put together some ideas (stock pictures used for the planning and look a bit different to mine). I went with colour triads and analogous colours. Triads being three away from each other on the colour wheel and analogous being three next to each other. This is a pretty loose interpretation by me…now to pick a favourite.

We have some super fun self striping, patterned yarns from West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply “Country Birds” range. I want to cast on Robin and Kingfisher. I need to finish one or two other pairs first…..

I sometimes finish socks too…..these have all been finished in the last few weeks.

Sundays are for sock knitting!! I had a look through my current socks on the needles….this isn’t all of them.
I found a small amount of (a discontinued colour way) Sherbet Fizz. It’s such a great colour way - I’m still disappointed its no longer available. There isn’t enough for a pair of standard socks to fit my feet so they will have extra long cuffs. I have knit the tube on my vintage sock machine and have so far added the toes and heels with Candy Floss (can you see the coffee splash on the pink yarn?) I decided a while ago that I don’t prefer a socks with a cast off edge at the cuff. I knit the cuff and then graft it on….no cast off at the top of the cuff and grafting takes about the same length of time as a cast off. Yay.
Then there are two socks using the pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/broken-seed-stitch-socks (the designer doesn’t appear to have their patterns anywhere other than Ravelry). The broken seed stitch is great for yarns you’re just not sure what to do with. When I pulled out Brightside (green, yellow, blue and red yarn), it really didn’t appeal to me. I decided to knit the Broken Seed Stitch socks with Marshmallow as the contrast and suddenly I like the way its knitting up. The second one is a combination of Blueberry bonbon (solid) and Seascape. I have knit this combo before and it was requested by a friend. I had knit the left over Seascape into a tube to use a a later date but am re-knitting it into these socks.
The green pair are knit with Chocolate Lime and Sour Apple. It’s Joji Locatelli’s pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/2-color-socks.

The background crochet in the pictures is a granny stripe blanket I am making with left over sock yarn. SO fun.

Wow! It’s been an age since I posted.
I’ve loaded all the WYS back on to Trademe and will have some Chiaogoo needles suitable for sock knitting soon.
I have a restock of West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply in the post to me as I type so will have some new colours available in a couple of weeks.
I’ll have a Sunday sock update this weekend. I’d love to see what you’re working on too.

See you soon 😀

This is how I rage it up when I’m away in my own.......After deciding to cast on a new project this afternoon, I also decided I needed to make a bag to go with it. There are some fabulous sellers at our little market in Pokeno.... and luckily I found fabric I love, hand sewing needles, thread and even bias binding to make the drawstrings. Now on to the knitting 🧶🧶

All set up and ready to go. I need a sign!

I’m heading to Pokeno first thing in the morning. I hope if you’re nearby, you can pop in and say hi. I’m looking forward to see what everyone else brings!!

Sunday sock update.......sock knitting has been sorely lacking this week. I wanted to finished two pairs and only finished one. Also, there was zero progress made on any other pairs. I did put together a Vegepod on Saturday and nearly lost a finger or two trying to take a picture of the finished socks. They are Bullfinch and Cayenne Pepper.......no damage done to socks or cat in the process of the picture been taken (and I’m not actually bleeding this time) 😼
