Just thought I'd reintroduce myself since it's been quite some time ...
Hi, I’m Tracy
I’m a mum to young adults, a widow of 16 years, and now finding my feet in the very strange new world of being a first-time empty nester!
For almost 30 years, I’ve worked in Early Childhood Education, so creativity, imagination and seeing a little bit of magic in the everyday have always been a big part of who I am.
But creativity has meant much more to me than simply having a hobby.
When I became a widow, life changed in ways I could never have imagined. There were some incredibly difficult and painful days, and through those years, my children and my creativity became two of the things that kept me moving forward.
My children gave me a reason to keep looking for the good things. I wanted their childhood to still feel safe, happy and, whenever I could manage it, a little bit magical, even when life behind the scenes didn't always feel that way.
So I made things.
I created traditions and celebrations. I decorated. I scrapbooked our memories. I gardened. I renovated. I crafted with the kids. I turned ordinary things into something special and found joy in creating little moments for us to look forward to.
And somewhere along the way, I realised that making things was helping to put me back together too.
Perhaps that's why I've never been able to stick to just one craft!
I’m what I affectionately call a dabbler in ALL the crafts. Give me paper, fabric, paint, timber, a sewing machine, something old that needs rescuing or a random treasure from an op shop and chances are I'll have an idea for it!
Over the years I've scrapbooked, made journals, sewn, painted, created children's resources, upcycled furniture and experimented with more crafts than I could possibly list.
When I'm not making something, you'll usually find me in the garden, tackling a DIY project or renovation, rearranging something that probably didn't need rearranging, hunting through second-hand treasures, or volunteering as a Scout Leader.
Now my children are young adults and I'm entering another very different chapter of life.
Follow along to see my journey
