March 7th "The Man of Steel" ride was held, their motto is "Nobody Cares - Pedal Harder", and they do, each year they start from Whitianga and go across the 309, down to Tapu and then back across the Tapu Coroglen Road, ending at the Coroglen Tavern for a well-earned refreshment, all to raise money for the Mercury Bay Cancer Support Trust. This year there was about 20 riders, and they had a beautiful day for the gruelling ride. There was a short prize giving, take note of the dapper young men who rode, dressed like that, on an old-fashioned bike with no gears - yup - no gears. They raise good money for us and we appreciate every single dollar. Thanks ladies and gentlemen, it was great to be able to pop out and meet you as you finished you ride.

Merry Xmas everyone, we'd like to offer you a great opportunity - buy yourself a chance to save yourself the trouble of baking a Christmas Cake while supporting a great cause. We have these wonderful cakes which are prizes in the raffle we have running currently. Pop into the store, pick up a bit of summer reading, maybe a jigsaw for the occasional rainy day and grab a few raffle tickets while you're there.

The Trust would also like to say a big thank you at this time of year to all our wonderful customers who help us keep doing what we do for our local community who are travelling the cancer journey. We couldn't do it without either our customers or our wonderful bookshop volunteers. The Trust appreciates every contribution. We wish you all a wonderful festive season.
