Andy Bawa to lay a formal complaint and calls on Police and Ombudsman to investigate Minister Tkatchenko

Recently our (PNG) Foreign Minister Honorable Justin Tkatchenko's daughter namely Savannah Tkatchenko posted a video on Tiktok showing herself traveling in first class with her father to Singapore enroute to London as part of the Official PNG Government Delegation to King Charles III's Coronation.
In the Tiktok video she mentioned that she was proud of herself because she had so much stuff, eating expensive food, doing shopping at Hermes and Louis Vuitton which are very expensive world class brand at Singapore at airport.
Now who is paying the bills? Who is paying for this long, expensive trip, the expensive food, the lavish shopping and the stay in London?
The video has also shown Minister Tkatchenko's driver sitting on the table and eating expensive food as well.

A lot of Papua New Guineans are concerned and disgusted with this video and the trip itself where lots of money has been spent on taking family members and associates overseas on official government trips at the expense of our taxpayers. This is totally wrong.

When ordinary Papua New Guineans started raising the issue in Tiktok video, the Minister responded by saying that "Papua New Guineans are useless people and primitive animals".
This was reported by ABC Reporter Stephen Dziedzic for the whole world to see.

This Minister is making derogatory comments about our people. These are racist and discriminatory remarks that must not go unchallenged. In saying this, he is rubbishing every Papua New Guinean who is complaining about him and his daughter. This includes educated Papua New Guineans and leaders like myself and even includes the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader. This includes our country. These comments are very embarrassing, disgusting, and shameful indeed.

The Minister has absolutely no respect for our country, our people, and the system of our government. He has no respect for his own voters. He thinks he can use the state coffers at will to fund family trips to Europe for his family's joy and pleasure.

I must remind the Minister that he came to this country and started life here as a gardener. And he has been given a lot of privileges by this country. He must respect our people. He owes a lot to this country.

On behalf of the People of Papua New Guinea, I will be laying an official complaint against this so-called Foreign Minister with the Police and the Ombudsman Commission.

I want him and his daughter to be thoroughly investigated as to how they could bypass government protocols to get his daughter selected to go on an official government trip and claiming to represent the country. Is this a joke? On what capacity is she representing PNG? As a government official or as Justin's family member? She could be representing Justin's wife and family instead. What exactly is she representing PNG for? And what has this got to do with her being a lawyer and daughter of a Minister.

What hidden criteria was used to select her to represent PNG when everyone with the same qualifications or even better qualifications, experience, and standing than her are here back home who can represent the country better.

I want the Ombudsman Commission to investigate and refer this Minister to the leadership tribunal and dismiss him from being an MP. He is a disgrace and a source of embarrassment to the country. He is a racist and a hater of true Papua New Guineans.

Papua New Guineans want to know how much money was spent on this trip. How many people traveled. How much allowance was paid to each individual etc.... What was the official title or capacity and duty statement of every single individual on that trip.

We have problems with healthcare, law and order, education, roads and bridges, proper infrastructure, and so many other priorities that this money can be used for. Instead, we are paying for family trips to Europe.

Lastly, I call on the Prime Minister and the government to strip him of his Ministry and revoke his citizenship as he is not fit to be called a Papua New Guinean and to represent us as a Government Minister in our Parliament and anywhere in the world.

NAMAH CALLS ON JUSTIN TKATCHENKO TO RESIGN IMMEDIATELY AS FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER AND MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT

Thursday 11th May 2023
Media Statement

AS Chairman of the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Immigrations and Defence, I am calling on Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko to explain to the people Papua New Guinea the quotes that are attributed to him on Australian media.

He is reported to have told the ABC Pacific Beat that Papua New Guineans who responded furiously to a TikTok video posted by his daughter Savannah were "useless people" and "primitive animals"

I am calling on the Foreign Affairs Minister to confirm or deny that he uttered those descriptions of citizens of Papua New Guinea which has been kind enough to offer him naturalized citizenship.

If he has indeed uttered those despicable words then I am calling on Justin Tkatchenko to immediately resign as Foreign Affairs Minister and as Member of Parliament and further renounce his citizenship.

The "useless people" and "primitive animals" of this country have ensured he grew his business, gave him a wife, offered him citizenship, elected him into public office, made him a minister and sent him and his daughter to London.

Alternatively, I am calling on the Prime Minister to sack him immediately and withdraw his citizenship.

I am also calling on the Immigration Minister to direct the Chief Migration Officer to immediately call a Citizenship Board Meeting to deal with Justin Tkatchenko. The Agenda of the meeting should be Justin Tkatchenko breaching citizenship laws, rules and regulations of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea.

As to the TikTok video, it just reveals the kind of shallow mentality and disregard for Papua New Guineans that the minister must have inculcated in his family. It is unfortunate.

LELANG CALLS FOR TKATCHENKO’S REMOVAL

Thursday 11th May 2023

OPPOSITION Leader Joseph Lelang is calling on the Prime Minister James Marape to decommission Foreign Affairs’ Minister Justin Tkatchenko over INSULTING remarks and lack of poor judgment shown during the trip to England to attend the coronation of King Charles III.

Mr Lelang said while Papua New Guinea was expected to turn up as a member of the Commonwealth, the Opposition cannot remain silent on a trip that’s full of scandalous behavior of Minister Tkatchenko calling citizens who aired their concerns over this trip and his daughter's antics on Tiktok, as "primitive animals”.

“I am calling on the PM to sack the Foreign Affairs Minister, over his remarks that he made on ABC's Pacific Beat and also recently out on the ABC News.

"We find the comments to be very insulting by a senior Minister to fellow citizens from the streets to the top of the office. The Prime Minister, you are a Papua New Guinean, the Governor General, you are a Papua New Guinean, I am a Papua New Guinean and all members of the Parliament and all office holders are Papua New Guineans. We are all Papua New Guinean’s. We are not animals and primitives.

"Such comments used to describe us way back in the 1940s and 1950s, and the early part of the 1960's by the colonial rulers at the time. Racist and discriminatory laws were put in place and our people were treated and looked down upon as second-class citizens and when we got independence in 1975, we became an independent nation,” Mr Lelang said.

He said: "We are proud citizens of this beautiful country and we can no longer accept such insults from a senior Minister who came to our country, received Citizenship and made his way, through the good people of Moresby South to represent them in Parliament".

Mr Lelang said his racist comments are very insulting and I am calling on the PM to sack him and to be referred to the Ombudsman Commission, for misconduct in Office and whether his daughter has the legal standing to represent the country alongside him with the Governor General and his spouse.

He called on the PM to disclose the full details of how much was spent on this scandalous trip because the tax payers demand this - when people go and use tax payers` money to attend important events overseas, they have to account for it.

Mr Lelang said the rest of the nation was suffering with high unemployment and soaring inflation, there a lot of basic services that have come to a standstill, a lot of Government offices even here at Parliament are affected by funding problems and yet, despite the cash flow issues we are facing, this is what we get in return for sacrificing.

The Opposition Leader says this time we will not tolerate such nonsense anymore and while we demand accountability, it is in the nation's best interest for the Prime Minister to come out and admit exactly how much was spent, who attended and what they did when they were there.

“The racist and derogatory remarks by the Foreign Affairs Minister describing those who raised concerns over this trip as primitive animals is insulting. We are not primitive animals Mr. Foreign Affairs Minister, and we will never be primitive animals.

"I am calling on the Prime Minister, you need to decommission this for insulting all Papua New Guineans and that is unacceptable,” Mr Lelang said.
