Info:
Haze from Indonesia is a thick, toxic air pollution caused by large-scale forest and peatland fires that drift across Southeast Asia.
Causes of the Haze
Agricultural burning: Land is frequently cleared using fire for palm oil and pulp plantations.
Peatland fires: Fires burn deep underground in carbon-rich peat soils in regions like Sumatra and Kalimantan, releasing dense, acrid smoke.
Dry weather: Seasonal dry conditions—often worsened by El Niño weather patterns—allow fires to spread rapidly out of control.
Haze has been observed in upland barangays, moving from southwest to northeast of Iloilo
