🌿 STORY TIME: TAMAYUC (PLEASE READ 🤍)
Story time muna.
Marami ang nagtatanong kung bakit parang humina ang Tamayuc.
The truth?
Tamayuc is just going through what every small business goes through changes, competition, low sales, and a market that feels… full.
Tamayuc started back in 2016, nung uso na uso ang bayong. Curious lang ako noon. I believed I could make one even if I wasn’t a weaver. Mahilig lang talaga akong mag-challenge ng sarili ko.
I was born in Tarlac, raised with Kapampangan dishes cooked by my grandparents, uncle, and my dad. Then life brought me to Samar with my parents, at doon nagpatuloy mag-aral, it was fun, colorful, and it’s where I met strong, patient women weaving bags and banig from buri and wild grass.
Tahimik lang akong nanonood noon.
Humahanga. Natuto sa tiyaga nila.
When I moved back to Pampanga, dala ko ‘yung mga alaala na ‘yon. Fast forward to 2015—lagi kong nakikita ang handmade bayong, and it kept bringing me back to Samar. Out of pure curiosity, sinubukan ko. Nagulat ako… nakagawa ako ng isa.
Nabenta. Then dalawa. Then more.
I was given the chance to display at an OTOP store in Angeles. Along the way, I met kind people who believed in my craft.
Hindi rin naging madali.
I also met scammers. May mga supplier na hindi tapat. May mga planong hindi nag-work.
May mga panahong maayos. May mga panahong sinusubok. I trained women and single moms to share what I knew. Life was good—until it wasn’t.
Someone else is now supplying bayong bags in the same OTOP store, and mine was slowly put aside. And honestly? Okay lang. Supporting other livelihoods doesn’t make me less. If anything, it reminded me to pause and reflect.
Maybe this is a wake-up call. Maybe Tamayuc needs a new face. A better idea. Something deeper. Something more fulfilling. Something more meaningful.
I still believe God doesn’t pause things without purpose. So here I am, not quitting, just learning.
Adjusting. Changing sails when the wind shifts.
Like Nokia, if you don’t evolve, you disappear.
You may pause for a while, but you don’t stop.
Right now, Tamayuc is exploring new materials.
A new product is coming soon.
