For the benefit of Danjugan Island, 39 artists come together in this fundraising exhibit “the island is calling”, from 14 January to 28 February 2022, at the Orange Project Gallery in the Art District, Bacolod City, Philippines.

The catalog of artwork in this exhibition is available in the linked page, and also at: https://bit.ly/the-island-is-calling
It features artworks, most of which were made on circular canvas, inspired by the story of Danjugan Island and its message on sustainability.

Proceeds from gallery sales will fund rebuilding and rehabilitation efforts of the island sanctuary, after it has been heavily hit by supertyphoon Odette. We thank you all who have contributed to our recent crowdfunding campaign. We are deeply moved by the overwhelming amount of support we have received, and we will be soon sharing more inspiring stories of the power of community. This fundraising exhibition by the Orange Project will enrich our shared vision for the future of this beloved island.

We are safe. But needs to recover from the typhoon Odette’s impact. And our staff, their families, and community on the mainland need all the help in rebuilding their destroyed homes. We are uniting again in the spirit of Bayanihan to help our community, so they can continue protecting the sanctuary which will sustain their lives and livelihoods.

Got a zero-waste idea that you would like to pitch for a prize of Php 100,000? 🤔💭

You can still apply to join the Wala Usik Challenge: A Circular Economy Hackathon ♻️🌱 where we’ll help you take your ideas for a circular, sustainable business to the next level. 📈🗓 DEADLINE EXTENDED until 6 August 2021!

Ideas could fall under the themes of product or systems innovation. Some of the examples we like are: zero-waste online shopping/food delivery designs, alternative and indigenous packaging or materials, equipment or device for refilling or any waste reduction approach, shared reuse systems, rental or repair business models, even apps or web-based platforms for collecting recyclables.

The hackathon is a virtual gathering of innovators and mentors to collaborate and work on these ideas, so we’re really excited!

For the mechanics and more details, swipe and find the QR code, or go to: www.prrcf.org/walausikchallenge. Need help in completing your application? Send us a message and let’s talk!
