Ensuring safe and secure parliamentary elections in BARMM.

PNP FORTIFIES BARMM FOR PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS WITH 9,821-PERSON DEPLOYMENT

Peace at the polls begins long before the first ballot is cast. With the September 14, 2026 Parliamentary Elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) fast approaching, the Philippine National Police (PNP) is mounting a large-scale security deployment involving 9,821 personnel to help protect voters, election workers, polling sites, and other vital election facilities.

The deployment places police personnel in strategic locations throughout the region, with the largest contingent assigned to 4,313 voting centers. Security coverage will also extend to 208 Commission on Elections (COMELEC) offices, 218 treasurers’ offices, and 856 checkpoints, while 2,120 Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) remain positioned to address situations requiring immediate police response.

Additional capabilities will come from 352 Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) personnel and 1,754 Special Electoral Board (SEB) personnel, creating a layered security arrangement that allows the PNP to address different requirements associated with the electoral process. These forces will complement regular police operations and help maintain order in areas where large numbers of voters and election workers are expected.

Police Regional Office BARMM will provide 4,361 personnel for the deployment, while 5,460 augmentation personnel will reinforce the regional police force. The augmentation comes from other Police Regional Offices and specialized PNP units, including 2,430 personnel from other PROs, 250 from the Maritime Group, 50 from the Highway Patrol Group, 146 from EOD-K9, 830 from the PNP Special Action Force, and 1,754 from the PNP SEB.

The breadth of the deployment reflects the PNP’s preparations for an election that requires security coverage across land-based voting areas, government facilities, and other locations connected to the electoral process. Specialized units will provide additional capabilities, while QRFs will remain available to address emerging situations and support police units when circumstances demand reinforcement.

PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief, PNP, underscored the importance of maintaining a police presence that reassures voters while protecting the electoral process.

“Our personnel are deployed not only to secure election areas, but to help create an environment where people can exercise their right to vote freely, peacefully, and without intimidation,” PGEN Nartatez said.

The PNP is also calling on voters and communities to contribute to a peaceful election by staying alert and reporting suspicious activities or incidents to authorities. Public cooperation can help police address security concerns promptly and prevent potential disruptions.

“Ang bawat botante ay dapat makaboto nang ligtas at malaya. Makipagtulungan tayo at agad ireport ang anumang kahina-hinalang gawain sa mga awtoridad,” he added.

The preparations reflect the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support, as the PNP strengthens election security and encourages public cooperation in maintaining peace.

With thousands of police personnel positioned for election security, the PNP is reinforcing its commitment to protecting the people and preserving public order throughout the electoral period. Every deployment, checkpoint, response team, and security detail carries one purpose: to help ensure that voters can participate in the parliamentary elections with confidence and peace of mind.

As the PNP strengthens its security presence to help protect every voter and safeguard the peaceful conduct of the BARMM Parliamentary Elections under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of its vision: “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

24 FISHERS BUSTED OFF ABORLAN COAST; ₱1.658M WORTH OF BOATS, GEAR AND FISH CATCH SEIZED

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested 24 individuals during two separate joint seaborne patrol operations against illegal fishing activities in the waters of Aborlan, Palawan on September 8, 2026.

The operations were conducted by the 2nd SOU-MG Quezon Special Boat Crew (Quezon SBC), in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Aborlan and Bantay-Dagat. The teams intercepted two fishing boats actively engaged in fishing without the required documents from the concerned government authorities, particularly the Municipality of Aborlan.

Six individuals were arrested for violation of Section 86 of Republic Act No. 10654, while 18 others were apprehended for violating Section 51, or “Other Prohibitions,” of Aborlan Municipal Ordinance No. 08, Series of 2016.

Seized during the operations were two fishing boats valued at ₱1,060,000.00, two motor engines worth ₱180,000.00, approximately 240 meters of fishing nets valued at ₱400,000.00, one towing machine, and around 120 kilograms of assorted fish catch, including galunggong. The total value of all confiscated boats, equipment, and fish catch reached ₱1,658,000.00.

The arrested individuals and confiscated items were brought to the 2nd SOU-MG Quezon SBC for documentation and proper disposition, while the seized fish catch was turned over to the Aborlan Medicare Hospital.

The operation reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through sustained enforcement against illegal fishing and other activities that threaten the country’s marine resources and coastal communities.

“Protecting our maritime resources requires firm enforcement and sustained presence in our waters. We will act decisively against those who disregard our fisheries laws and threaten the livelihood of legitimate fishing communities,” PGEN Nartatez said.

“Hindi natin hahayaang abusuhin ang ating karagatan. Mahigpit nating ipatutupad ang batas upang maprotektahan ang yamang-dagat at ang kabuhayan ng mga komunidad na umaasa rito,” he added.

The apprehension underscores the PNP Maritime Group’s determined campaign against illegal fishing and other violations in Philippine waters, particularly in the coastal areas of Palawan.

As the PNP strengthens its protection of the country’s marine resources under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”

₱1.36-M SHABU HAUL: THREE HIGH-VALUE DRUG PERSONALITIES COLLARED IN GENSAN

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., delivered a significant blow against the illegal drug trade with the arrest of three high-value individuals and the seizure of approximately 200.8 grams of suspected shabu in General Santos City on September 8, 2026.

The operation was conducted in Barangay Labangal by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 12 (RPDEU 12), in coordination with Police Station No. 2 of the General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12 (PDEA 12). Arrested were alias “Naro,” a 50-year-old male and former elected Barangay Kagawad of Barangay Mangay, Talitay, BARMM; alias “Jolt,” 44; and alias “Kick,” 51, both male residents of Purok Mudia, Barangay Labangal, General Santos City.

Operatives recovered one sachet containing approximately 5.17 grams of suspected shabu from the drug transaction and four large sachets containing approximately 195.63 grams from the suspects’ possession. The combined estimated weight of 200.8 grams carries an estimated National Standard Drug Price (NSDP) value of ₱1,365,440.00, along with the buy-bust money and other items allegedly used to conceal the illegal drugs.

The seized substances were placed under the custody of the case investigator for forensic examination at the Regional Forensic Unit in General Santos City. The suspects are temporarily detained at Police Station No. 2 as complaints for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, are being prepared for inquest proceedings.

The operation supports the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through targeted enforcement against high-value drug personalities. This reinforces the PNP’s drive to disrupt illegal drug networks and protect communities.

“Every successful operation sends a clear message that illegal drug networks will face determined law enforcement action. We will remain relentless in pursuing those who threaten the safety and well-being of our communities,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Hindi titigil ang ating mga kapulisan sa pagtugis sa mga nagbebenta at nagpapakalat ng ilegal na droga. Ang bawat pagkakakumpiska ng ilegal na droga ay isang hakbang tungo sa mas ligtas na pamayanan,” he added.

The operation highlights the PNP’s firm resolve to dismantle illegal drug networks and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law.

As the PNP intensifies its campaign against illegal drugs under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it assures the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
