BAGO CITY SWEEPS TITLES AT SUTA KAG DIWATA SANG KANLAON 2026

LA CARLOTA CITY – Representatives from Bago City dominated the Suta Kag Diwata sang Kanlaon 2026, clinching the top male title and a runner-up finish in the female category during the cultural pageant held today, August 10 at the La Carlota City Gymnasium.

Suta sang Bago Kurt Gregory Pedrosa was named Suta sang Kanlaon 2026, while Pia Bianca Soriano, Diwata sang Bago, finished as Diwata sang Kanlaon 2026 First Runner-Up.

The pageant is the centerpiece of the annual Halad Kay Kanglaon, an environmental and cultural tribute to Mt. Kanlaon led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in coordination with the local government units of Bago City, La Carlota City, Canlaon City, San Carlos City, Murcia, and La Castellana.

Bago City also earned the Best in Festival Costume Designer award, given to Bagonhon artist Aaronspencer Marin for his work with the Diwata kag Suta sang Bago delegation.

Bago City Mayor Mayette Javellana commended the winners for their performance and representation.

“Congratulations to Kurt, Pia, and Sir Aaron. You made Bago City proud. Your talent and Bagonhon spirit shone brightly. Continue to inspire and bring honor to our city. God bless you all,” the mayor said.

The wins reflect Bago’s commitment to promoting both cultural artistry and environmental stewardship through Halad Kay Kanglaon, which seeks to raise awareness on the protection and conservation of the Kanlaon Natural Park.
