Mayor Benjamin Magalong reminded owners of nightclubs, bars and retail wine establishments in the city to ensure that no minors are being allowed in their place of business.

The mayor said Ordinance 1 series of 1990 or the Revised Liquor Ordinance expressly prohibits minors or individuals under 18 years of age "from entering or remaining in nightclubs, bars and retail wine establishments, regardless of their role as a customer, employee, or in any other capacity."

The mayor said the Baguio City Police Office under PCol Ruel Tagel has intensified the monitoring of drinking establishments.

In its latest operation conducted from 6 p.m. of August 23 to 6 a.m. August 24, 2025, nine stations and units visited a total of 122 night establishments and found that six of them admitted and allowed minors to drink liquor.

All the violators were within the jurisdiction of Police Station 2.

These were referred to the City Investigation and Detective Management Unit (CIDMU) for endorsement to the concerned office for appropriate action. - Aileen P. Refuerzo
