It has been five years since Daddy passed away and just when I thought I have already gained enough confidence to navigate a fatherless life, suddenly I have to come to terms with living without my mother too.
As of this date, it has been 10 days since Mommy has passed away. I didn't know it was possible for an already broken heart to still feel this much pain and loss not only for myself, but also for everybody else who became a part of her life.
I hadn't realized it until now that except for a few months of working outside of Baguio City, I have had the privilege to spend my entire (almost) 41 years of existence with my mom. I have only known life with her around. All the pain and grief were a bit more manageable because she always had my back.
Without my father, I have no anchor. Without my mother, I have no ship at all.
I have tackled grief in the face, have gone through its stages in an unpredictable cycle a hundred times over and now I'll have to go through it all again. Funny how I have been plagued with sleepless nights for almost two weeks now when all I want to do is sleep and wake up when September ends.
I apologize my thoughts are a bit more selfish this time. With the Great Father's help, I know and I promise I will be strong soon.
