Shopee sellers began circulating alerts on social media after being notified of J&T Express’ reported exit from Shopee as a logistics partner starting February 9.

No official announcement has been issued beyond the in-app notice, but speculation is growing that aggressive cost-cutting is behind the move, with Shopee leaning toward cheaper delivery arrangements through its remaining partners.

Once J&T exits, sellers and buyers will be limited to Flash Express and SPX Express, reducing delivery choices in an ecosystem where speed, reach, and reliability directly affect sales and customer trust.

This potential exit carries weight. J&T operates more than 2,200 branches and warehouses nationwide and employs around 60,000 workers, many tied to Shopee volumes that could suddenly disappear, raising the risk of widespread job losses and service disruptions.

Shopee made a similar decision in Indonesia last year, dropping J&T in favor of SPX Express, fueling concerns that the same consolidation strategy is now being applied in the Philippines.

With fewer logistics partners in play, sellers face slower deliveries, higher rejection rates, and the risk of losing buyers, while riders and warehouse workers see income stability threatened almost overnight.
