𝗖𝗚𝗬 𝗢𝗿𝗼 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 is heading to China for the 2026 𝙂𝙪𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙮𝙪𝙖𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙝𝙤𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙭 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙩 𝙍𝙖𝙘𝙚 on August 30 to September 1! 🇨🇳

More than a race, this is a journey into one of Guangyuan’s most distinctive cultural traditions.

Unlike the traditional dragon boat races commonly associated with China, Guangyuan celebrates the Phoenix Boat (凤舟) — a beautiful water tradition deeply connected to women, heritage, and the legendary story of Wu Zetian, China’s only female emperor who was born in Guangyuan.

The tradition of rowing Phoenix Boats has a history of more than 1,300 years. Today, it has become a signature event of the Guangyuan Daughter’s Festival, where women take to the waters, race together, and celebrate strength, unity, courage, and feminine spirit.

The Phoenix Boat itself carries the phoenix as its cultural symbol, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern racing design — representing both Guangyuan’s heritage and the strength of women.

From the rivers of Cagayan de Oro 🇵🇭 to the waters of Guangyuan 🇨🇳, CGY Oro Dragons proudly joins this international celebration of friendship, culture, sportsmanship, and women empowerment.

As our team prepares for this journey, we humbly ask our families, friends, supporters, and the entire CGY community to pray for our safe travels, good health, strength, unity, and a successful competition. Your prayers, messages, and support will be with us as we paddle beyond our shores. 🩷
