PNP-PDEA SUSTAIN ANTI-DRUG DRIVE WITH ₱150-MILLION MA*****NA ERADICATION IN KALINGA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) eradicated an estimated ₱150 million worth of ma*****na during an operation in Tinglayan, Kalinga on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, preventing a large volume of illegal drugs from reaching communities.

Police operatives, working with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), uprooted approximately 750,000 fully grown ma*****na plants planted across an estimated 50,000-square-meter communal forest area in Barangay Loccong.

The operation was conducted by personnel from the Kalinga Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, local police stations, mobile force units, and PDEA Kalinga.

The uprooted plants were documented and destroyed on site, while samples were secured for proper examination and disposition.

The operation reflects the PNP's continued focus on disrupting the supply of illegal drugs at their source, consistent with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call for sustained and coordinated efforts to protect communities from the effects of illegal drugs. It also forms part of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through intelligence-led and coordinated police action.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation demonstrates the importance of sustained police presence and coordination in preventing illegal drugs from reaching communities.

“Malaking bagay ang ganitong operation because we are able to address the problem where it starts. Hindi lang ito tungkol sa dami ng halaman na napuksa; it is about making sure these illegal drugs do not find their way into our communities,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP will continue working with partner agencies and local communities to identify and address areas used for illegal drug cultivation, consistent with the “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman,” while ensuring that every operation respects due process and the rights of all persons.

PNP, BI ARREST 8 KOREAN NATIONALS IN ANGELES CITY OVER IMMIGRATION, FINANCIAL SCAMMING CASES

The Philippine National Police (PNP), through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), assisted the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in the arrest of eight Korean nationals during the implementation of two BI Mission Orders in Angeles City, Pampanga, in separate operations that extended into the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026.

The operations were conducted late Wednesday night, August 12, until the early hours of Thursday, August 13, 2026, at two separate locations in Barangay Anunas and Barangay Pampang, both in Angeles City.

The BI served as the lead agency, with police assistance provided by the CIDG Regional Special Operations Team 3, CIDG Angeles City Field Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, Angeles City Police Office, and other partner units, in coordination with the Korean National Police Agency and Korean Supreme Prosecutor’s Office.

The operation stemmed from alleged violations of Philippine immigration laws and Republic Act No. 12010, or the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act. The Mission Orders identified one of the arrested Korean nationals as wanted in South Korea over allegations involving the illegal opening and operation of gambling establishments.

Based on the initial report, the individuals were apprehended while allegedly operating online workstations linked to the transfer of proceeds from offshore criminal activities. Preliminary information from Korean authorities indicated that the operators were allegedly managing private bank accounts believed to have been used in the movement of illicit revenues.

The eight arrested individuals were all identified in the report as Korean nationals, including one subject of the operation and seven others apprehended during the same police-assisted enforcement activity.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the operation highlights the value of working closely with partner agencies, especially in cases involving foreign nationals and activities with possible links beyond Philippine jurisdiction.

“Hindi lang ito tungkol sa isang operation. It is also about making sure that our agencies are connected and that information is acted on properly. We will continue working with our partners, here and abroad, while ensuring that every person involved is accorded due process,” PGEN Nartatez said.

The arrested individuals were apprised of their constitutional rights and are temporarily detained at the CIDG Angeles City Field Unit pending the filing of appropriate criminal charges and the initiation of deportation proceedings by the Bureau of Immigration.

The operation forms part of the PNP’s Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, which promotes coordinated and timely police action with partner agencies. It also supports the peace and security priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. through strengthened law enforcement cooperation and respect for due process.

PNP STATEMENT ON SHOOTING INCIDENT INVOLVING POLICE PERSONNEL IN CAVITE

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is investigating a shooting incident involving police personnel and a civilian that occurred in Maragondon, Cavite, at around 1:30 a.m. on August 12, 2026.

The incident resulted in the death of two persons, including a police officer and a civilian, while another police officer was wounded and is currently in stable condition. The police officer involved in the incident is under police custody.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being established. The investigation, including the necessary forensic examination and other procedures, is ongoing.

The PNP reminds all personnel to strictly observe existing policies and procedures on firearm safety and handling, proper conduct, and the use of force. Police officers are expected to exercise discipline, restraint, and sound judgment at all times, whether on or off duty.

The PNP will not prejudge the case, but neither will it tolerate any violation of the law or PNP rules and regulations. We will follow the evidence, respect due process, and take the appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.

SIX LOOSE FI****MS SEIZED; SUSPECT FALLS IN QUEZON RAID

The Philippine National Police, under the command of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., arrested a man during the implementation of a search warrant that led to the seizure of six loose fi****ms in Sariaya, Quezon on August 10, 2026.

The operation was carried out by the CIDG Quezon Provincial Field Unit, Quezon 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), and Sariaya Municipal Police Station in Barangay Lutucan 1, Sariaya, Quezon.

Seized from the suspect were six unlicensed fi****ms consisting of a caliber .45 pistol, caliber 9mm pistol, caliber .22 rifle, caliber .22 revolver, 12-gauge shotgun, and an improvised caliber .380 firearm, along with magazines and ammunition.

The suspect was found in possession and control of the fi****ms without the required License to Own and Possess Fi****ms (LTOPF). The fi****ms were likewise not duly registered with the Fi****ms and Explosives Office (FEO), in violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“This accomplishment sends a clear message that possession of unlicensed and unregistered fi****ms will not be overlooked. We will keep pursuing individuals who disregard the law and pose a potential threat to the safety of our communities,” PGen Nartatez said.

“Ang pagkakaroon ng baril ay may kaakibat na pananagutan at pagsunod sa mga itinakdang batas. Mahigpit nating babantayan ang mga paglabag sa fi****ms law at kikilos tayo agad kapag may nakitang banta sa seguridad ng ating mga komunidad,” he added.

PNP SHIELDS COMMUNITIES FROM FIREARM RISKS AS 858 GUNS ARE VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is strengthening its preventive approach to firearm-related threats as police units in Western Visayas accounted for 858 fi****ms voluntarily surrendered by individuals from May 15 to July 31, 2026.

The fi****ms were turned over through the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) initiative known as Project R.T. T. (Restrict, Track, and Turn-in), which encourages individuals holding undocumented or improperly registered fi****ms to surrender them through lawful and non-coercive means.

Rather than waiting for illegally held fi****ms to surface in criminal investigations, the initiative allows police units to work with communities, local government units, and barangay officials to identify concerns involving unregistered or expired fi****ms and encourage their lawful disposition.

The largest number of surrendered fi****ms came from Iloilo, followed by Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo City, the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, and Guimaras.

The accomplishment forms part of the PNP's continuing effort to prevent fi****ms from becoming instruments of violence and crime. It is also consistent with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), which promotes proactive, coordinated, and results-oriented policing.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the surrender of fi****ms demonstrates the value of prevention and cooperation between police and the communities they serve.

“Mas mabuti na maagapan kaysa hintayin nating may mangyari bago tayo kumilos.
