Movie: THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN (2019)
My Thoughts:
What if we could truly know what our pets are thinking? Marami na tayong napanood na movies with a pet’s point of view, pero this one feels closest to home—especially for us furparents.
Based on the novel The Art of Racing in the Rain by Gareth Stein, the movie is told through the eyes of Enzo, the dog, whose voice is brought to life by none other than Kevin Costner. Amanda Seyfried stars as Eve, the wife of Denny (Enzo’s owner), played by Milo Ventimiglia.
At first, you’ll find yourself laughing at Enzo’s playful thoughts and the natural quirks of dogs that we, as pet owners, know so well. But as the story unfolds, prepare yourself—lalo na sa latter part—kasi talagang dudurugin ang puso mo. For furmommies (yes, I’m talking to all the ladies with furbabies), I warn you: don’t watch this when you’re on your period or ovulation week, kasi isang linggong iyakan ang kasunod!
Dogs as lead characters really hit a soft spot. Their acting feels so natural, so heartfelt. Amanda and Milo also gave moving performances that blend perfectly with Enzo’s narration. After watching, I’m even tempted to read the novel to see how it compares with the film.
This is realistic fiction at its finest—relatable, emotional, and deeply human. If you’re in the mood for a good cry this weekend, watch this movie while hugging your furbaby. Tara, nood na!
