Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord... I also have heard you, declares the Lord. — 2 Kings 22:19

King Josiah became king at just 8 years old, but what made him remarkable wasn't his age—𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵.

While repairing the temple, Hilkiah the priest discovered the Book of the Law that had long been neglected. When it was read to Josiah, he was deeply convicted. Instead of ignoring God's Word or making excuses, he tore his robes, a sign of genuine repentance and humility.

God saw his heart and said:

"𝘉𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘷𝘦... 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶."

Josiah didn't stop at feeling convicted. He acted.

He gathered the people, read God's Word publicly, renewed the covenant with the Lord, and removed idols, pagan altars, and everything that led the nation away from God. He also restored the celebration of the Passover, reminding Israel of God's saving grace.

The Bible gives him one of the greatest commendations for any king:

"Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the Lord as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength..." (2 Kings 23:25)

Yet despite Josiah's faithfulness, Judah still faced the consequences of generations of rebellion.

This reminds us that while personal repentance brings God's favor, it doesn't always erase the long-term effects of a nation's persistent sin.

All these were fighting men who volunteered to serve in the ranks. They came to Hebron fully determined to make David king over all Israel.— 1 Chronicles 12:38

1 Chronicles 12 records the men who gathered around David before and during his reign. These were not ordinary soldiers—they were men of courage, loyalty, wisdom, and faith.

Some joined David while he was still being hunted by King Saul. Supporting David during that time was risky because he had not yet become king. Yet they believed that God had chosen David, and they stood with him before everyone else did.

Among them were the men of Issachar, who are described as:

"Men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do." (v.32)

Others were mighty warriors, skilled with different weapons. But despite their different tribes, skills, and backgrounds, they had one heart and one purpose.

They came to Hebron fully determined to establish David as king, and the chapter ends with a great celebration because there was unity in Israel.

It’s easy to focus on what we still don’t have.

But today, let’s remember what God has already given.

Before we ask for more, let’s thank Him for what is already in our hands.

“Lord, whatever I have today, remind me that it all comes from You.”

One difficult season doesn’t erase a lifetime of God’s faithfulness.

The same God who carried you through yesterday is still with you today, even if today’s path feels uncertain. Delays are not abandonment. Silence is not absence. Pain is not proof that God has stopped working.

Don’t build your view of God around your worst day. Build it around His unchanging character. Circumstances will change, but who He is never will. 🤍🙏🏻

King Jehoash (Joash) had a sincere desire to restore the temple of the Lord. Years of neglect under previous rulers had left God's house in disrepair.

He instructed the priests to collect the offerings and use them for the repairs.

However, years passed, and the temple was still not repaired (v.6).

The problem wasn't a lack of resources—it was a lack of stewardship.

Instead of giving up, Jehoash changed the system. A collection chest was placed at the temple entrance, and trustworthy men were appointed to manage the funds.

The people gave willingly, the work was completed, and the temple was restored.

Later, however, when King Hazael threatened Jerusalem, Jehoash took the dedicated treasures from the temple and palace to pay him off, and Hazael withdrew (vv.17–18).

This shows both wisdom in administration and a reminder that even a good king could struggle to trust God fully in times of crisis.

God is not only looking at what we build for Him—He is looking at the heart with which we build it. 💛

Because you have done well in accomplishing what is right in My eyes... your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation." — 2 Kings 10:30

In 2 Kings 9, God instructed Elisha to send a young prophet to anoint Jehu as the next king of Israel.

At that moment, Jehu didn't look like a king.

He was simply a military commander.

Yet God saw what others did not.

The prophet poured oil on Jehu's head and declared that God had chosen him to destroy the wicked house of Ahab and bring judgment upon Jezebel for leading Israel into idolatry and for the innocent blood that had been shed.

Immediately, Jehu obeyed.

He confronted King Joram, King Ahaziah, and eventually Jezebel.

When Jezebel mocked him from her palace window, Jehu didn't fear her reputation or influence.

Her reign of evil finally came to an end, fulfilling God's word spoken years earlier through Elijah.

This chapter reminds us that God may seem patient with evil, but He is never indifferent to it. His justice comes in His perfect timing.

One prayer may not change your circumstances immediately, but it will remind you who is in control. 🤍

Prayer doesn't move God to become faithful—He already is. It draws our hearts back to His sovereign care and teaches us to rest in His perfect will.

If you’re reading this while wondering when your prayer will be answered…

Don’t lose heart.

The chapter you’re living in today is not the whole story.

*Maybe you’re waiting for healing.
*Maybe you’re waiting for restoration.
*Maybe you’re waiting for a breakthrough, a job, a spouse, or simply a sign that God hasn’t forgotten you.

This is your reminder:

God is still working—even when you can’t see it.

The silence doesn’t mean He’s absent.
The delay doesn’t mean He’s forgotten.
The waiting doesn’t mean He’s finished.

Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
Keep showing up.

Because the same God who began a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

God is not done yet. And neither is your story.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…” — Philippians 1:6
