Color can give a clue, but it's only part of the picture. Depending on the variety, growers may also look at the fruit's appearance, stem attachment, aroma, firmness, and other signs of maturity.

Because sometimes, the hardest part isn't growing the melon.

It's easy to admire the harvest.

The harder part to appreciate is everything that happens before it.

Every plant begins in a nursery tray, where time, care, and the right growing conditions help prepare it for what's next. Only when the roots are ready does it move into the greenhouse.
