BAGYO UPDATE (5AM, November 7, 2025)
for Tropical Cyclone Fung-wong
Fung-wong intensifies into a severe tropical storm strength.
At 4 a.m. Friday, it was located 1,470 km east of Eastern Visayas, outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
The severe tropical storm now packs winds of 95 kph with gusts up to 115 kph. It is moving northwestward at 10 kph.
It will enter the PAR as a typhoon at midnight or early Saturday and be given the local name Uwan — Cebuano for rain.
Uwan will intensify up to super typhoon strength and may reach its peak from Sunday, November 9, near Bicol.
It may make landfall at or near peak intensity over and bring potentially life-threatening conditions over Northern or Central Luzon area on Monday, November 10.
Wind signals may be raised over eastern portions of Luzon and Visayas Saturday morning at the earliest, ahead of its land approach.
Signal no. 5 will be the highest wind warning that will be raised.
Uwan’s strong winds extend up to 720 km from its center and could affect a large portion of the country during its passage.
Heavy rainfall, severe winds, and storm surge may be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and forecast confidence cone.
The uncertainty in the track and intensity forecast of Uwan remains very high so the public is advised to continuously monitor updates on the potential super typhoon. | via Ariel Rojas, ABS-CBN News
