I dropped by a pop-up market last night to visit some merchant friends, and almost everyone asked the same question: Why haven't you guys had a pop-up schedule lately?
The honest truth? Pop-ups are heavy physical labor disguised as a cute, aesthetic setup.
What people see is the polished display and the busy booth, but what they don't see is the brutal behind-the-scenes reality: the early-morning haul-ins, standing on hard concrete for hours straight, keeping your customer service energy high, and then tearing it all down when your body is already completely spent.
As hard as the physical setup and breakdown are, it’s the social hangover from non-stop crowd interaction that truly drains your battery—especially when you’re handling every single layer of the business yourself.
Now that we're in our 30s, recovery doesn't take hours anymore—it takes days, weeks, or maybe months. Stepping back from a back-to-back market schedule isn't laziness; it’s essential maintenance for our health, mind, and sanity.
Plus, every single product we offer is handcrafted in small batches. Good scented soy candles need proper cure time, and rushing the process just to fill a weekly booth isn't an option for us.
We’ll definitely be back at pop-ups real soon! Just expect us on a more balanced, selective schedule so we can give both our bodies and our craft the time they need. 😭✨
