Shunsaku Tamiya helped turn a small family business into one of the most famous model kit companies in the world. He passed away in July 2025 at the age of 90, but his work still inspires many people today.

He was known for making high-quality plastic model kits, RC cars, and Mini 4WD toys that were fun and easy to build. He wanted everyone, from kids to adults, to enjoy building things with their hands.

Tamiya’s ideas changed the world of model building. Because of his attention to detail and smart designs, other companies like Bandai followed with famous kits like Gunpla (Gundam plastic models).

Some of his most loved products include the 1/35 Panther tank, the Porsche RC car, and the fast Mini 4WD racers.
Thanks to him, building model kits became a fun and creative hobby for people all over the world.
