Sansevieria has been put through its paces by NASA – this was in NASA’s Clean Air Study, a fascinating study that looked at how the air in space stations could be cleaned and filtered. It found there were a number of plants that can naturally remove toxins in the air. Sansevieria was one of the top performers!

Well known for it air-purifying qualities, it can remove benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene, and it was even shown that one plant per 100 square foot was enough to efficiently clean the air in a space station! Sansevieria are a great example of how plants can improve the air around you and even help you sleep better.

Philodendron 'Birkin' is a stunning variety that develops pure white pinstripes on its foliage, growing ever more variegated as the plant matures. This is a somewhat smaller, non-vining Philodendron with an upright growth habit. As a fairly new hybrid to modern cultivation, 'Birkin' often shows very interesting variation from leaf to leaf - it is not uncommon to notice occasional splashes of pink or light red on new leaves as they unfurl.

A must for any rare aroid collector or lover of variegated plants.

This beautiful Brazilian species has deeply divided leaves. The dark olive green leaves almost look like rubber. This is an easy to grow species that stays in its reasonable size.

As a tropical plant, it is particularly effective at helping clean the air we breathe. It helps air purification qualities for a healthier home environment.
