DUTERTE SUSPENDS FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES SET IN 2021 OVER NEW COVID-19 STRAIN
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on Saturday calls back the order allowing face-to-face classes slated January next year due to the new COVID-19 variant that has caused a surge in the United Kngdom.
Singapore, Israel, Hong Kong, Australia, Denmark, Italy, Gibraltar, and the Netherlands have already reported their first cases of the new strain.
“I am cancelling the order I gave a few weeks ago to Secretary (Leonor) Briones of the Education Department. To suspend everything all activities of children especially yung face-to-face classes.” Duterte said during an emergency meeting with IATF-EID and experts in Malacañang.
The President had to cut short his Christmas break in Davao City and immediately flew back to Manila to address this alarming matter.
